Understanding Greyhound Temperature Regulation: Does my Greyhound need a coat?
At Hounds in Homes, we are dedicated to rescuing and rehoming retired racing greyhounds. Our goal is to provide these loving and gentle dogs with a second chance at a happy life in a loving home. We work closely with greyhound veterinarians, and other rescue organisations to ensure that each dog receives the care and attention they deserve.
What We Do:
We specialise in the rescue and adoption of greyhounds that have retired from racing. Our team of passionate volunteers ensures that every greyhound is thoroughly vet-checked, socialised, and matched with a family that meets their needs. We believe in providing greyhounds with a safe, loving environment and educating their new owners about their care and well-being.
Our Commitment to Greyhounds:
At Hounds in Homes, we understand that adopting a greyhound is a big decision, and we are here to guide you every step of the way. From the adoption process to ongoing support, we are committed to helping both the dogs and their new families adjust to life together.
Why Adopt a Greyhound:
Greyhounds make incredible pets due to their calm and affectionate nature. They adapt well to different living environments, including apartments, and require minimal grooming. By adopting a greyhound, you’re not just gaining a new companion – you’re giving a retired racing dog the chance to live a full, happy life.

"We absolutely love our Jerry, who just fit into our family like a dream. We were given a wonderful handover about his temperament and any little quirks before we adopted him, and Hounds in Homes were more than generous with accommodating opportunities to meet and greet and even have a sleepover with our existing doggie before we made the commitment ❤️ Such a great, supportive process both before and after we took Jerry home (and we continue to stay in touch periodically!) - would highly recommend"

"Had the best experience with HIH, our gorgeous Belle is our second fur child and now absolutely spoilt rotten. I can attest to the incredible support from Trish and the team at HIH. They work tirelessly and genuinely care, always acting in the hounds best interests. You know everything you need to know when you adopt from HIH - which really sets every match up for success. I couldn't recommend them more."

“I wouldn't have had the confidence to take on Jai if it wasn't for you and Maryana. Your care and expertise gave him a shot at a normal life that most greyhounds in his state wouldn't have got, let alone an uninjured one.Your advice and leading by example helps me understand what it takes, and I can do my best to take care of him knowing every day he gets is one he without a doubt would not have had if it wasn't for Hounds in Homes providing a loving home."

Our logo has a heartwarming story behind it. It was created by Chloe Ryan, an artist, in memory of her greyhound Gilbert, who passed away in 2021. Gilbert was an amputee who proved that life was still good, even with three legs.
Our logo is a constant reminder of this beautiful breed and his family: Sandra, Chloe, and Gilbert.
