A Bit About Me
Meet Bob – Our Handsome Greyhound
Hi! I'm Bob and I would love to love you! I'm very friendly and affectionate; I just love everyone I meet!
I'm a handsome fawn boy with big doe eyes and I love to put my head in your lap and gaze up at you. It makes me very endearing. I’m very good at relaxing but I’m also playful and especially like squeaky toys. I can get a bit boisterous when I’m playing and forget how big I am so if you have kids, older kids or teens would probably be best. I also like to lean into you or rub against your legs like a cat.
I've been living with a greyhound foster sister and we get on fine. She’s a shy girl though and because I’m such an extrovert I can be a bit pushy in trying to get the attention first. So if you have other dogs they would need to be patient with me wanting to be the centre of attention. I’ve been learning a lot in my foster home. I’m now house trained and know how to ask when I need to go outside – I just stand by the back door and wait. I answer to Bob or Bobby and will get off the bed when you tell me to. I’m learning to wait for my meals – I used to be very impatient and jump up excitedly but now I’m very good and wait until the plate gets put down.
I’ve met one small dog but only with supervision and on the other side of a child gate so we’ll see how I go with that as the introductions progress. By the way, if you think you might need a child gate for introductions or to keep me out of certain rooms, you’ll need an extra tall one (available from Bunnings) as I’ve learned to jump over a standard sized one.
My carer is home a lot so I’ve only been left by myself (or with my foster sister) for a few hours at a time about 4 days a week and I’ve got used to that. I’m not sure yet how I’d go for longer periods. I just love being with people or chilling nearby. I walk well on a leash and like going for walks. I haven’t seen too many cats around and haven’t been tested with cats so I’m not sure how I’d go with those. I occasionally chase birds in the back yard but mostly I couldn’t be bothered.
I’m not destructive at all, don’t chew anything I’m not meant to, and I’m not really interested in digging. I’m mostly happy inside the house lounging around but I do like to patrol the boundary fences in the morning and evening, sniff around the garden and do some zoomies.
If you’re looking for a hound who’s a socialite and a real cuddle bug, I just might be the one!
